2/1/2024 0 Comments Update mozilla firefox browserIn response, Google has disabled Chrome's one-click default button. Gizmodo discovered that consumer versions of Windows could avoid the problem by changing the name of the Chrome app on a Windows desktop, suggesting this wasn't an unintentional bug within the April update. "It doesn't happen if we change the default browser to Edge," they said. One person noticed that the Windows settings page only opened alongside Chrome if Google's browser was the default. This is happening to all 600 systems with the update." "After today's cumulative update for Windows 10 and 11, 2023-04, every time I open Chrome the default app settings of Windows will open," an IT administrator wrote on the Microsoft support forums."I've tried many ways to resolve this without luck. While everyday users who installed the update found the Chrome button now only opens the Default App settings without changing anything, enterprise users discovered an even more annoying issue: every time they opened Chrome, the Windows Default App settings page would also open automatically. It was a popular addition for 8 months, until the April Windows update borked it. In July 2022, Google introduced a new button to Chrome (near the top of the screen) that allowed users to change their default browser with a simple click, eliminating the need to find and navigate the Windows settings menus. And the impact was even worse for enterprise users. It appears that the April Windows update KB5025221 had an unexpected effect on Chrome browsers, writes Gizmodo. Not surprisingly, the borked feature was a button that allowed users to switch their default browser with a single click. Edge browser war has seen Microsoft issue a Windows update that caused a Chrome function to break. Facepalm: The latest shot in the Chrome vs.

2/1/2024 0 Comments Cocospace airpods reviewThey support multi-device pairing, meaning you can stay connected with your phone and computer simultaneously. Still, thanks to their adaptive ANC feature, they have a fantastic noise cancelling performance, which can help block out noise like rumbling engines and background conversations. Out of the box, they also have a less neutral sound profile than the Google buds. These earbuds do sacrifice some higher-end features, like virtual surround sound. They're more comfortable for most people and not as prone to slipping out of place, but their ANC doesn't block bass-range noise like rumbling engines as effectively.Ĭonsider the Anker Soundcore Space A40 Truly Wireless if you want a more affordable option. The Sony LinkBuds S Truly Wireless are another good mid-range option. This can be annoying and affect their bass delivery if you can't achieve a consistent fit. However, they can pop out of your ears over time. Their slightly v-shaped sound profile emphasizes the thump and rumble of low bass, while instruments and lead vocals sound clear and bright. The earbuds have a solid continuous battery life of around seven hours and come with a case that holds two extra charges. Google Pixel users can also take advantage of the Spatial Audio feature meant to help create a more immersive soundstage. They support multi-device pairing, meaning you can stay connected with your phone and computer simultaneously, and they have an ANC feature that does an excellent job of blocking out noise. Despite the smaller price tag, these earbuds still have plenty of useful extra features. The Google Pixel Buds Pro Truly Wireless are the best in-ear headphones at the mid-range level we've tested. They offer similar levels of noise isolation and sound customization features via their companion app. However, they lack built-in EQ or presets to help you tweak their sound, so if this matters, check out the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 instead. They have a warm sound profile, making vocals and instruments seem cozy this means they're well-suited for most kinds of content. Their design can wiggle out of your ears over time, which is annoying. Overall, they're well-built and have a comfortable fit for long listening sessions. With their ANC on, they last just under six hours continuously, though their case holds four extra charges if you need it. While their ANC isn't on par with the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II Truly Wireless, they still do an excellent job of tackling hard-to-block noise like rumbly plane engines, as well as ambient chatter. Like their predecessor, the Apple AirPods Pro Truly Wireless, they've got a few features you won't find anywhere else on this list, like an H2 chip for seamless pairing with devices in your Apple ecosystem and Spatial Audio for a more immersive audio experience. If you still want a premium design but don't want to pay top dollar, try the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) Truly Wireless. That said, they don't have multi-device pairing, which is disappointing if you want to stay connected to two devices simultaneously. They have 6.7 hours of continuous battery life, and their carrying case supplies three additional charges. Thanks to their companion app support, you can tweak their sound to suit your tastes via the graphic EQ and presets. They're well-suited for genres like EDM and hip-hop, but subjectively, the extra bass muddies vocals and instruments. The shape of our test rig's ear canals affects the buds' bass delivery, and as a result, they sound more bass-heavy than our graph shows. That means you can wear them for long periods without fatigue, and they look more refined. With this go around, Bose has re-assessed their design, making them less bulky and more comfortable than their predecessor. They easily block out sound across the range, from the low rumble of bus engines to ambient chatter to the hum of computer fans. They're the next iteration of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Truly Wireless and have an incredible noise cancelling (ANC) system that outperforms their competitors. If you want the absolute best, these buds are worthwhile. The best earbuds we've tested are the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II Truly Wireless. Gameplay 2/1/2024 0 Comments Overlord raising hell guideBehind the set, the Overlord finds out the terror is actually the dwarf king Goldo's steam roller, Rollie. However, the play constantly begins again from Act 1, since the "terror" prop for Act 3 can not be found. In the Evernight Abyss, Oberon Greenhaze and the remaining elves are being tortured by having to watch a poor-quality re-enactment of their demise at the hands of the dwarves which is used to mock their God, the Mother Goddess, and as an excuse to kill on stage. The Overlord secures the Abyss Stone, which allows him to take control of the domain.Īt this point, Abyss gates appear over the rest of the land. Melvin ends up rolling into a hole, there unable to eat. Luring him with food, the Overlord uses Melvin's torture as a method of blowing through the Abyss's defenses. In the Mellow Hills Abyss, the now fallen halfling hero Melvin Underbelly, previously slain by the Overlord in the base game is being punished by becoming even more gluttonous than before, constantly eating to the point of exploding yet returning to the Abyss to restart the same process. Upon arriving however they end up in the "Abyss", an alternate hellish version of their own lands where they are tortured or forced to work. Upon his arrival in Mellow Hills, the peasants of Spree surround a large portal, which they believe to be a passage to heaven. The game takes place alongside the events of Overlord, where Gnarl reports evil energy being emitted from the Overlord's conquered domains.
1/31/2024 0 Comments The inside scoopThis is achieved through carefully curated menus made from as many whole foods as possible which focus on the above factors but for the day before a race, the team also tries to focus on foods that are easier to digest so minimising saturated fats such as butter and fatty meats, and instead focus on unsaturated fat sources such as olive oils and fish. However, it ensures that riders can recover properly from each race, so it is important to get an adequate amount of protein in every meal to get a constant delivery of amino acids – which are the building blocks of protein.” “Protein is not used as a source of fuel for cycling. It’s not just the classic “carb-loading” rhetoric that is hailed by many amateurs though, we also focus on ensuring that the riders get enough proteins to support their muscle recovery. The focus is on wholegrain and wholewheat sources such as pasta, rice and bread, so that the riders can maximise their liver and muscle glycogen stores and start the race optimally fuelled.”Īlongside the grains, the riders also get their carbohydrates from legumes, vegetables and fruit – which also provide them with important minerals and vitamins. “When looking at the day before the race, the meals are highly carbohydrate-based. With the rigours and demands of any bike race, it’s important that the riders fuel up well the day before as Zoë explains. Together with the other race coach, Pim Ligthart, Phil plans all of the logistics for the day – who arrives when, when they head out for a ride, what time massage is and so on all with some input from our experts. Of course, the riders don’t just turn up on race-day, get on their bike and that’s that, depending on the race we all rendezvous one or two days before and that’s no different for Omloop. Ahead of the recent Omloop Het Nieuwsblad we sat down with Team DSM Nutrition Expert Zoë Overzee and Team DSM coach Phil West to get all of the details. It’s no surprise then that it takes a lot of planning to make sure that the race goes as smoothly as possible, both in terms of logistical on-race planning but also behind the scenes at our HQ with our team of experts, ensuring that the riders are as fuelled as well as they can be for those epic days in the saddle. Twisting and narrow roads make for a stressful day out, and combined with the long distances, challenging cobbles and steep climbs it is an incredible test of endurance, skill and valour. Riders battle the toughest of conditions often faced with howling winds, heavy rain and bone-shakingly cold temperatures that sounds a lot before we even talk about the parcours. The hustle and bustle of excitable fans vying for the best spot to catch a glimpse of their heroes and heroines, the clatter of bikes smashing over the cobbles, plus the outcry and roar from the crowds that cover every metre of Flemish roadside and farm-tracks, undeterred by their muddy boots and rain-soaked jeans – there is something truly magical and special about the classics. 1/31/2024 0 Comments Omniplayer raspberry piTo set up WiFi for your Raspberry Pi, you will need to connect your screen, keyboard, mouse, and WiFi adapter to the Pi, and then log into your terminal. Touch screen is a cool new feature that you can try on a budget, but I want to make it clear that touch screen is not a must-have option in this project. If your hand is 7d8d9dTdJdQdKdAd6c5h, you have very limited options, only 2 cards to make gin and a solid deadwood score of 5 (you discard the 6 after knocking). You should look at your melds, how many cards improve your hand, what are your chances of making Gin etc. This way you know how many cards he has as deadwood and you can assess your chances of having a lower deadwood score. If your opponent sticks to the rule of thumb that you should pick up cards from the discard pile only if it makes you a three card meld, then the number of his pick ups is equal to the number of his melds. Basically, if it seems like you’ll be able to add a lot of cards, you should consider waiting for him to knock and lose, but only if you assess that you’ll get more points this way.Ģ. You should know what meld your opponent is making so you know what cards you’ll be able to add in case he knocks. You should follow these to because of two things:ġ. You should follow your opponents discards in general, but when it come to deciding whether to knock or not it’s actually all about hand reading. This is because your opponent probably has a bunch of melds already formed after such a long time of play, or maybe he’s even seen that you are struggling and decided not to knock with his <9 deadwood in hopes of making Gin. Knocking here is probably pretty bad(unless you have some other stronger reason to knock). Case: You’ve been playing the same hand for an hour and you finally manage to get your deadwood to 9. Knocking right away here wouldn’t really be bad, since your opponent has some random cards and will probably have a hard time getting a low deadwood score.Ģ. Case: The cards are dealt and you immediately get only 9 deadwood. What you should take out of this is that the longer you’ve been playing, the lower your deadwood score should be when you knock.ġ. The longer a game is played the better the chance that your opponent has a lot of melds in his hand and thus less deadwood. This should be self explanatory, but I’ll cover it anyway. So let’s take a look at these factors and how they should influence your decision… Actual gin rummy strategy: Since this is a complicated question I’ll try to introduce some factors that you should take into consideration when deciding. This article is dedicated to the subject of »knocking« in a gin rummy game, or better yet on the question when to knock and when not to knock. If this statement comes as a shock, then you should first have a look at the rules, if it doesn’t, then keep reading… Gin rummy game ends with one player knocking. Question now Introduction to gin rummy strategy: 1/31/2024 0 Comments Macjournal 6 user manualThe screen shot below shows the inspector panel for an entry: With MacJournal, there are many types of built-in meta-data for cataloging your entries. Here’s a short list of some of the meta-data you can add to your notes: You can use that meta-data for smart-journal selection, sorting or just visibly adding information to your notes. MJ allows you to hitch a lot of meta-data to each entry. This one is simply based on finding a tag. In MacJournal you can set up Smart Journals that hunt through your entries to find those that meet a certain criteria. But I will add the spark tag to those notes, and then I have a smart journal gather those tagged notes together. Rather than stash my spark notes in a dedicated journal, I prefer to leave them in the journal in which the idea first came to me, where I might get some insight based upon their context. For example, when I am creating diary entries, I tag the ones that refer to an important event as “notable.” Then I have a smart journal that hunts up the “notable” entries, so at the end of the year I can have a quick summary of the important happenings.Īnother smart journal I have is for spark notes. With MJ, I can add tags as needed, or forget about it. I like having the option to add tags, but I hate having to create tags to put my notes in order. This is how I like to organize my notes, which is one of the major reasons I don’t use Bear for note-taking… it only has tag-organization. You can see from the screen shot at the top of this post that I have several topic/purpose-related journals in my main document. You can also create BOOKS, which I’ll touch on later. You can also create sub-journals and SMART JOURNALS. Inside each journal you can create individual ENTRIES. Inside the document, you create JOURNALS. MacJournal calls the file you open to work in a DOCUMENT. I’ve found that MacJournal handles these all elegantly and powerfully.īefore I discuss how, let’s get a few definitions out of the way. Some of the types of entries I want to keep in my digital notebook: A journal belongs in a notebook (or set of notebooks), which is why I used that word in the title of this post. You may find that you write enough about a certain subject that you want to group those entries in their own sub-journal. A journal should be able to handle date-centric notes, but it should also be a place to write about any subjects you like unrelated to the date.I’d recommend Diarly, but DayOne and Lifecraft are both worth a look. If you just want to keep a diary, you might be happier with another app. You might record your thoughts about various subjects in a diary, but they are organized by date. A diary is for keeping a record of what happened on specific days.I make the following distinction between a diary and a journal: But after several years of failing to be satisfied with my diary/journals I decided to give MJ another go. When DayOne went to a subscription, I looked elsewhere for a new diary app and relegated MJ to the app scrap heap. I dabbled in using MJ for other types of writing, but then DayOne came along and it dazzled me with its clean appearance and the easy way it synchronized material between MacOS and iOS, so I turned to it for my diary. I slowly uncovered other features that made it useful for all kinds of writing and note keeping, but I was committed to Scrivener and then Ulysses for longer-form writing (I don’t mean book-length work, but essays and long notes about specific things). I didn’t really appreciate MJ at the time, but it was touted as the best diary app, and that’s how I first used it. When I first journeyed back to MacOS for my personal use about 11 years ago, I installed Scrivener, CircusPoinies Notebook and MacJournal almost immediately. In this post, I want to discuss my reasons for returning to MacJournal as my number one notebook. |
